Sonoma Salute to the Arts raises funding for Sonoma Valley non-profit arts and cultural organization

Benefitting OrganizationsAs Sonoma's aesthetic centerpiece and most dynamic fundraising vehicle for the arts, Salute to the Arts generates proceeds
for numerous non-profit arts, cultural, and educational organizations. The Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance, the festival's non-profit
sponsor, contributes net proceeds to participating organizations each year.
Through Sonoma's annual Salute to the Arts, the Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance also funds scholarships for high school seniors
interesting in pursuing careers in the arts. The scholarship fund, established in 1998, provides awards for music, visual
art, theater art, and literary students. In 2002 awards for promising culinary and enology/viticulture students were added.
The Arts Alliance has contributed more than $600,000 to Sonoma arts and cultural organizations and programs through Salute
to the Arts proceeds since its inception.

Arts Guild of Sonoma

Tasting
Established in 1977, the Arts Guild of Sonoma provides local artists with a gallery to exhibit their work, present demonstrations
and lectures to which the community is invited, and support one another in pursuing art careers. The Guild sponsors various
community events for artists ofall ages.

Ballet Folklórico is affiliated with La Luz Bilingual Center, a non-profit organization that promotes the independence of
non-English speaking people through education and orientation to community life.

The Boys and Girls Club
Boys & Girls Clubs Valley of the Moon is a youth development organization serving Sonoma Valley youth since 1962. The Club
provides a year round safe haven for over 2,600 valley youth. The Club offers programs and services designed to build character
and strengthen life skills in a fun, safe and constructive environment. Their mission is to provide positive opportunities
for youth to learn and succeed.
Boys & Girls Club offers age-appropriate, outcome-based youth development programs in five core program areas. Their tested
and proven nationally recognized programs address today’s most pressing youth issues, teaching young people the skills they
need to succeed in life.
The five core program areas are:
Character & Leadership, Education & Career, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, Sports, and Fitness & Recreation.

Dragon’s Head Productions is a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission statement is to raise money for children’s
charities through safe and fun entertainment. Located in Sonoma, DHP is made up of a group of family and friends who volunteer

North Bay Kung Fu’s mission is to train the mind, body, and spirit through application of the philosophies of Confucianism,
Taoism, and Buddhism found in Asian culture, to improve health in all aspects of life. Kung Fu is a way of life, and the
martial arts are for young and old alike. North Bay Kung Fu’s participation in Sonoma Salute to the Arts enables the organization
to sponsor advanced students in competitions throughout the Bay Area,
as well as international competitions in China and all over the world.

Sonoma Academey of Dance and Art

Sonoma Academy of Dance and Arts is a performing arts school for children teens and adults, located 1/2 block off the town
square on East Napa Street. They have an extremly diverse dance program for all ages, a music program, dance and arts after
school program and summer camps and workshops.

Sonoma Community Center
Presents: An exhibition of artworks by the Center’s faculty and their students, including jewelry, sculpture, drawing,
painting and printmaking. Printing and throwing demonstrations by participating artists will take place throughout each day.

Sonoma Hometown Band
Presents: Traditional march music; see Performance

Richard Schneider founded The Sonoma Hometown Band in 1967
as a marching band participating in 4th of July and Vintage Festival Parades. In 1986 Sonoma Hometown Band started a concert
band and now performs four concerts a year. Their repertoire includes march music written by John Philip Sousa and Charles
Fillmore, as well as Karl King’s music for Barnum & Bailey’s Circus.

Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance
Presents: Sonoma’s Annual Salute to the Arts; visual art competition exhibit and silent auction; hands-on art mural project
Founded in 1986, the Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance has sponsored
Sonoma Salute to the Arts since 1988. The organization was established
to encourage communication between artists, organizations, the public, and the press; to promote the arts; and to raise funding
for the arts. SVAA has provided art scholarships for local graduating high school seniors since 1998.

Sonoma Valley Museum of Art
The museum will be open at no charge to Salute to the Arts ticket holders on August 4 and 5. (Must show event ID)
Sonoma Valley Museum of Arts is a nonprofit, member supported, privately
funded organization. It shows the work of local, national and international
artists, Exhibits originate from private collections, artists, museums and
other resources. The museum provides a striking setting for receptions,
dinners, meetings, and presentations. It sponsors lectures and workshops
related to exhibitions, provides a forum for people to develop, expand and
share their interests and enthusiasm for art.

Sonoma Valley Film Society

The Sonoma Valley High School Music Department consists of the Concert/Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Choir, madrigals,

Sonoma Charter School
Salute to the Arts funds are used to keep art an ongoing, integral part of the student's
daily curriculum. Funding provided by the state of California is not enough for that.

The funds received from Salute to the Arts go directly to providing ongoing classes and
events at the Community Center. The funds help underwrite the cost of instructors and

Sonoma Valley High School Band
"Almost all the money we earned at Salute to the Arts went to our fabulous London trip

Sonoma Valley High School Drama Department
Salute to the Arts earnings were a large part of funding used to produce the original
play, The Wave the first play completely written and produced by teacher
Ron Singer and his students. "It is great for the kids to be involved in
the work of the fundraising."

Sonoma Valley Poetry Festival
Funds from Salute to the Arts were given to California Poets in the Schools. Arthur Dawson
conducted poetry sessions in the elementary schools; Rebecca Talbot conducted sessions at
Altimira; and Luis Kong will be conducting sessions at Hanna Boys Center.
